Round 2: Little golfers get their shot at mini-golf at the Wareham library

Mar 15, 2015

If Saturday was ‘fore’ the adults at the Wareham Free Public Library, then Sunday was the kids shot.

Several families turned up at the library Sunday as part of the Friends of the Wareham Free Library's annual mini-golf event, which helps sponsor a library that lost most of its funding in 2014 and now runs on a more limited basis.

Saturday evening saw a host of adults scattered over the indoor course, which wound its way through and around the bookshelves and other areas of the building. Holes were sponsored by local businesses, and decorated with different themes depending on the sponsor.

Megan Kuras, the former chairman of the Wareham Library Board of Trustees, said her family is a regular at the event.

"We look forward to it every year," she said as daughter Makenna Singleton worked her way through the course.

"I like to read because it's fun," added Singleton.

Liam Scott, 11, of Wareham enjoyed his time on the course as well, though he wasn't looking for any low scores.

"I purposely put it in the water," he said from a cleverly placed hole with a water hazard built into it.
