Sandra Lee Teixeira, 74

Sandra Lee Teixeira, 74, of Bourne, wife of Joseph Teixeira also of Bourne, was called home to rest from her labor on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

She was affectionately known as “Sandy” and was a member of the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe. She was born in Wareham on December 4, 1945,  the daughter of the late James and Harriet (Harding) Powell.

Sandy attended Wareham Public Schools and Wareham High School, graduating in 1963. She later attended nursing school at Bristol Community College where she received her Associates degree in nursing becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse.

From an early age, Sandy was always a server and active member of the community. During her High School years, she served in the Nurses Club, Pep Club, Glee Club and as a Library Aid.

Her love for people is illustrated by the 51 years that she was affiliated with Tobey Hospital where she began as a Candy Striper, Volunteer and an employee serving in the Emergency Room, Maternity Ward and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where she retired. She always loved to sew, shop and sing. She was a member of the Saints and Singers for many years.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Rachel Teixeira Searcy and her husband Carles T. Searcy of Snellville, GA; Grandchildren Keyth, Breanna, Jasmyne, Corey, Amber, Karley, Stevielee, Chayton, Leah, Melissa, Joseph, Jeremy, Rebecca, and Nicole and a host of great grandchildren. Devoted niece and nephews that she raised as her own children: Toni Ann Powell of Brockton, MA; Jimmy Powell of Pocasset, MA; Osvaldo J Powell of Providence Rhode Island. She was also survived by many loving cousins and friends that will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her daughter’s Narrissa Teixeira, Jennifer Teixeira and sister Janice Powel.
