Say ahoy to pirate-themed playground in Swifts Beach

Land ho!
A pirate ship is about to run aground on Swifts Beach — or, at least, a playground that resembles a pirate ship.
After eight months of construction, and $250,000 in Community Preservation Act funds, the new Joseph W. Conway, Sr. Memorial Playground will open to a motley crew of lads and lasses at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 27.
The new playground will be located on Circle Drive off Swifts Beach Road, by the water.
The piratical playground will be accessible to buccaneers of all ages and mobility levels, with a basketball court, a pickleball court and adult fitness equipment.
The original playground was over 30 years old and falling apart. Neighborhood residents, alongside the Swifts Beach Improvement Association, had been advocating since 2020 to renovate it.
