Wareham Public Schools will celebrate the 22nd year of A Salute to Reading is FUNdamental from November 13 to November 16.

Volunteer readers will be visiting schools and reading to students in an effort to get children excited about reading.

The New Age Role Models and Friends is the Massachusetts organization which helps support the literacy goals of Reading is Fundamental, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving literacy in America.

"Children should be introduced to the joy and wonders of reading," said Joanne Byron of the New Age Role Models. Byron is a former Newton schoolteacher.

Rose Berry, branch manager of Main Street's Eastern Bank, will be coordinating activities in the elementary schools. To volunteer to read, contact Berry at 508-295-3802.
