Scotty on the center court line

Oct 23, 2020

The basketball court at the Hammond School in Onset is now almost complete, as a contractor paid for by David Andrade has painted the Scotty Monteiro Jr. Foundation’s logo on the center court.

In red and black, the foundation’s logo and slogan — Stop the violence — are a striking presence on the court. The Foundation donated to purchase the backboards for the court as part of its ongoing work to support kids making good choices.

The Scotty Monteiro Jr. Foundation’s cause is “Stopping the Violence” through education and awareness and rewarding excellent students.

The foundation honors the memory of Scotty Monteiro, Jr., an Onset native and Wareham High School graduate who was killed in 2009 when he attempted to stop a robbery at a party.
