The Buzzards Bay Coalition is holding three events in the coming week which encourage participants to get closer to nature.

On Saturday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m., visit the Onset Bay Center, 186 Maine Ave., to go beachcombing in the serene setting of Onset Bay.

On Sunday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., go on an adventure in bushcraft, the art of wilderness survival, on Wicketts Island. Activities will include fire lighting, shelter building, knife and axe skills, solar still and water purification methods and following the “Bushman’s Code.”

Budding survivalists will park at Onset Pier and take a ferry to Wicketts Island.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., Wareham Public Schools will hold a winter-themed playgroup for children ages 3-5. Tykes will read the book “Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter” and go for a walk on the beach.
