A second Wareham man was arrested in connection with Sunday's late night liquor store break-in on Main Street, according to Wareham police.

Christofer Martinez, 19, of Wareham, was arrested by police at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon in connection with the break-in at the Jug Shop, located at 221 Main Street. Martinez was charged with breaking and entering nighttime, destruction of property, and larceny from a building.

Ryan Hanscome, 19 of Wareham, was arrested early Sunday morning after he was spotted inside of the Jug Shop at 12:30 a.m. by Officer Jennifer Braley. Braley was responding to a reported alarm sounding at the liquor store.

According to police, Braley noticed a smashed rear glass door, then saw Hanscome standing behind the counter of the business wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and camouflage pants.

Police said that upon being seen, Hanscome ran to another area of the store, then out of the store onto Main Street in an attempt to flee from the area on foot. He was apprehended by responding patrol officers one-quarter mile from the Jug Shop at the rear of St. Patrick’s Church.

Although Hanscome did not possess any items from the store at the time of his arrest, store items including lottery tickets and liquor were located outside the store, police said.

Hanscome appeared to be unarmed and was charged with breaking and entering nighttime, larceny from a building, two counts of malicious destruction of property, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. He was to be arraigned on Monday, Jan. 12 at Wareham District Court.
