Select Board addresses Lindsey’s liquor license, gift cards
The Board of Selectmen voted to let the recently-closed Lindsey’s Family Restaurant keep its 2023 liquor license at its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
Former owner Cheri Lindsey said that the restaurant is for sale and on the market.
“We don’t know if a restaurant is going to buy [Lindsey’s] or buy the houses and the land,” she said.
Lindsey announced the restaurant’s closure in a Monday, Nov. 28 Facebook post.
“If you find a buyer for your restaurant, you cannot sell the license, but you can ask for it to be transferred,” said Select Board Chair Judith Whiteside.
“The person who buys the restaurant looking for a liquor license will come before [the Select Board] asking for the license itself for the transfer,” said Member Alan Slavin.
Slavin added that many local residents asked the Board how they could get reimbursed for Lindsey’s gift cards.
Cheri’s daughter Debi Lindsey said that the restaurant has $10,000 worth of outstanding gift cards and they are currently working to respond to each gift card owner individually. To contact Lindsey’s representatives in regards to gift cards, email Lindseys1948@gmail.com.
“We did want to make sure that we can pay our vendors and pay our employers their last week’s paycheck plus their paid time off,” Debi said. “We want to be able to do at least that, although we wish we could do a lot more,” she said.
