Select Board in favor of continued outdoor dining

Mar 9, 2022

The Select Board spoke positively about the prospect of continuing to allow some restaurants with liquor licenses to offer outdoor dining, including on town property, after pandemic-era rules are no longer in effect.

Outdoor dining was expanded during the pandemic.

Select Board member Alan Slavin said the town should do “whatever we can to come out and help our restaurants, and just bring more people into town.”

He said he was also in favor of allowing businesses to continue offering outdoor dining on town property if the Town Administrator approved.

On April 1, the covid-era licenses allowing outdoor dining will expire, per the state. Select Board member Peter Teitelbaum said that those business owners will need to reapply and go through a public hearing process to offer outdoor dining.
