Select Board member advises residents check their electric bill

Mar 2, 2022

During Tuesday night’s Select Board meeting, board member Jim Munise spoke of a recent, nearly 50% rise in his electric bill.

Munise said he referred to the online community aggregation cost, the price through Wareham’s Community Energy Aggregation program, which lists the town’s default energy cost as $0.10470 per kilowatt-hour.

The board member said he changed his community aggregation option online. He advised other residents take a look at the town’s website to compare what they’re paying with the other options available.

“Take a look at it,” Munise said, “and maybe it’ll work for your benefit.”

Board member Alan Slavin added that when residents sign up for the program, customers are locked in for two years at the same rate. By contrast, he said, Eversource’s rates generally rise in the winter.
