Select Board renews town administrator contract

Mar 1, 2022

The Select Board voted to renew Town Administrator Derek Sullivan’s contract during its Tuesday night meeting.

The renewal vote passed 4-1, with board member Jim Munise voting no. He clarified before voting that he had no issues with Sullivan, but with the terms of the contract and process of the contract’s negotiations.

Board chair Judith Whiteside said during Tuesday night’s meeting that the board had already discussed Sullivan’s contract and agreed to vote to approve it in previous executive sessions.

Sullivan thanked the board for his contract renewal, which runs on a three-year term.

“I really appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve,” he said.

Whiteside praised Sullivan for his ability to rebound Wareham’s town finances from the brink of bankruptcy to its now strong bond ratings.
