Selectmen approve several initiatives

From parades to computers, the Board of Selectmen approved multiple “feel good” town initiatives Tuesday night.

The board granted both the annual Greater Wareham Walk for Hunger and annual Little League Parade permission to use town roads for their upcoming events.

The Walk for Hunger, an event sponsored by The Church of the Good Shepherd, will happen on Sunday, May 1, at the church. The event will raise money for Project Bread, which provides millions of dollars in grants each year to more than 400 emergency food programs in 128 countries statewide. The walk will be five miles long, and begin at 1 p.m.

The Little League Parade will celebrate the opening day for little league baseball. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. on April 24.

The Board of Selectmen also announced the addition of three computers to the Council of Aging office in the Multi Service Center. The computers will be available to any senior citizens living in Wareham.

The computers will not be installed until March 28, and the class schedule will be decided after the installation. Funds for the purchase were approved earlier this month from the council's Gifts Account, Selectmen said.
