Selectmen renew alcohol licenses for restaurants, package stores
Forty-nine out of 52 establishments that sell alcohol received a “cheers” from Selectmen on Tuesday.
Board members renewed year-round all-alcoholic beverage licenses for 13 package stores and 30 restaurants, as well as wine and malt beverage licenses for a pair of pizzerias.
Year-round all-alcoholic beverage licenses were renewed for the Wareham-New Bedford Elks Lodge and the Improved Order of Redmen. The town’s veterans clubs, the American Legion and Dudley L. Brown Post #2846 Veterans of Foreign Wars, also received renewal for all alcoholic beverages.
China Garden did not earn renewal for its license on Tuesday due to incomplete paperwork. Hong Kong Garden's paperwork was also not ready in time for Tuesday's vote. However, Selectmen Chair Judith Whiteside noted that it has since been received and will be voted on at the board's next meeting.
Selectman Peter Teitelbaum praised Town Hall staff for ensuring the renewal process went smoothly.
“It’s letter perfect, in alphabetical order,” he said. “I didn’t see a single comma misplaced.”
