So cute it's scary: Halloween Fun Day in Onset

Oct 26, 2013

Ninja Turtles, zombies, fairies, and all manner of creatures swarmed Onset on Saturday, October 26, for the Onset Bay Association's annual Halloween Fun Day.

"We do it every year and try to expand on it," said Winna Dean of the Onset Bay Association.  "We like to give back to the village."

Scarlette Leonard of Onset set out in a Phoenix costume festooned with plenty of red feathers.

"I made it myself," she said, smiling proudly.

Onset businesses offered a hand to the organizers of the event, lending space for a variety of activities.

There was cupcake decorating at Cranberry Crab, Spooky Stories at the Pier View Restaurant, and hot chocolate and cider at the Firehouse Cafe.

Members of the Junior Onset Bay Association were there helping kids paint pumpkins.

Fifteen-year-old Madison Semple, a sophomore at Wareham High School, says she enjoys putting a smile on kid's face.

"I just love being around little kids. They're cute, and they're always having fun," she said.

Semple and her fellow Junior OBA volunteer Kylie Silva had their work cut out for them, chasing around plates full of paint for pumpkin painting on the windy day, and helping to wrangle the kids together.

"I want to just help out around the community," said Silva.

The day of activities wrapped up with the costumed kids parading through Onset, terrorizing all who saw them with cuteness.
