A Wareham woman was seriously injured in a four-car crash on I-495 in Middleboro on Dec. 21 that killed a Brockton resident, according to State Police.

Authorities said 57-year-old Anita Stevens died after she lost control of her SUV, which led to a multi-car crash at approximately 4:15 p.m. near where Route 44 meets I-495.

Police said Stevens’ 2002 GMC Envoy spun out and was then hit head-on by a 2011 Cadillac CTS driven by a 55-year-old Wareham woman. Police said the Wareham resident was taken to Brockton for treatment. Authorities have not released the Wareham’s woman identity or current condition.

Police said two other drivers, a 55-year-old North Easton man and a 37-year-old man from Centerville, were also involved in the crash.

State Police closed both northbound travel lanes for about two hours following the crash. Authorities are currently investigating the crash.
