Stolen jewelry recovered, 2 arrested following Wareham break-ins
Police say thousands of dollars worth of stolen jewelry has been recovered and two people were arrested in connection with recent burglaries at a pair of Wareham stores.
One break-in took place on Oct. 24 at Aaron Marks Jewelers, a second occurred on Oct. 29 at Gold World and a third was reported on Nov. 1, again at Aaron Marks Jewelers. Police said a suspect broke into the buildings, smashed jewelry cases and stole items before fleeing. Police worked with Bourne Police, who were investigating a similar incident, and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office to identify the suspects.
Police say one of the suspects was involved in a minor car crash in New Bedford on Nov. 1. She was arrested on an unrelated warrant following the crash. When police learned of the arrest they obtained a warrant and searched the car.
The driver, 21-year-old Erin Pardi of Wareham, was charged with receiving stolen property over $1,200 after police said officers found several stolen items in the car. Police say Pardi may face additional charges.
The second suspect, Anthony Vieira, 24, of no certain address, was a passenger in a car stopped by Sgt. Daniel Henderson on Nov. 4 at about 6 a.m. near Cromesett Road in Wareham. During the stop, Vieira fled the scene on foot.
Police searched the area and, using tips from several residents who reported seeing a man running, found Vieira near the Woods of Wareham housing complex. Officers Ryan Gomes and Ryan Turner then arrested Vieira.
Vieira has been charged with three counts of breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, three counts of larceny and three counts of receiving stolen property over $1,200. Vieira is being held on $5,000 cash bail pending an appearance in Wareham District Court.
Police did not provide an estimate on how much the stolen jewelry was worth.
