Wareham Police seek public’s help in finding alleged jewelry thief
Wareham Police are seeking the public’s in locating 24-year-old Anthony J. Vieira after he failed to appear in Wareham District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
Vieira is suspected of breaking and entering into two Wareham jewelry stores back in October of 2018, allegedly stealing over $1,200 worth of property alongside 21 year-old Erin Pardi of Wareham. Police are urging anyone who knows where Vieira is not to approach him and to call 911.
Vieira was first arrested in connection to the robberies on Nov. 4 after he allegedly lead police on a foot chase near the Woods of Wareham housing complex.
A day later on Nov. 5, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office requested Vieira be held on $10,000 bail.
This amount was rejected by Judge Edward Sharkansky, who reduced Vieira’s bail to $3,500. Police said Vieira then made bail in early December and was released.
Outside of his failure to appear in Wareham District Court, Police said Vieira is also wanted on an active warrant from Fall River. Police did not disclose what this warrant was for.
“The officers of the Wareham Police Department work very hard to keep the town of Wareham a safe place. They accomplish this through diligent patrols, community interaction and by arresting people who commit crimes,” said Acting Police Chief John Walcek. “Although the DA’s office requested a high bail a judge rejected that and my concern is not only for the safety of my officers but the safety of the public.”
