Stone Path Malt, located at 11 Kendrick Road, will add outdoor seating to its taproom this summer.

At Tuesday night’s Board of Selectmen meeting, the Selectmen voted unanimously to allow the tap room to add outdoor seats.

Stone Path Malt makes malt, a key ingredient in beer, by taking grains, such as barley, and sprouts the seeds before drying them. The company sells malt to dozens of small breweries, and serves beer made from their malt on tap.

The tap room has become a popular spot for community events, and the owners of Stone Path Malt also hope to expand into selling beer to-go. That change requires a change to the company’s license that must be approved by the state legislature. Selectmen have been working with the business to craft that legislation.

The additional seating will not change the overall occupancy of the building, Selectmen noted.
