Students organize gift drive for military families
Wareham High School student groups are organizing a gift drive to replenish losses from a nine-trailer fire at Joint Base Cape Cod in late October.
The fire destroyed thousands of stocking stuffers, toys, and school supplies that the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation Inc. planned to distribute to military families during the upcoming holiday season.
The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp (JROTC) and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) have teamed up to host the drive at the school.
Specific requests include:
- Gift cards for teenagers for area chain stores (fast food, department stores and clothing stores) in the amount of $10 or $20
- New holiday decorations to decorate a warehouse for a holiday party
- Kids' books, games, puzzles with extra large print
Donations can be dropped off at the main office at Wareham High School, or contact Cadet Tyler Litchfield at tlitchfield2018@wareham.k12.ma.us or Matt Stanton at mstanton@wareham.k12.ma.us for assistance.
The groups will be accepting donations until Friday, Dec. 2.
