Sullivan signs three year contract for Town Administrator position
The Board of Selectmen voted Tuesday night to enter into a three-year contract with Town Administrator Derek Sullivan.
Sullivan signed a one-year contract with the town in January of this year. The new contract goes into effect in January of 2014.
Under the contract, Sullivan will earn $120,000 for the first year, $130,000 for his second and $140,000 for his third.
Former town administrator Mark Andrews was hired in November of 2009, and resigned before his contract was up on April 16, 2012, to take a town administrator position in the North Shore Town of Wenham.
After Andrews’ departure, Treasurer/Collector John Foster stepped into the role of interim town administrator, followed soon after by Sullivan.
"I'd like to thank the board for their consideration ... and their support of what we're doing," said Sullivan. "I'm looking forward to the next three years."
Sullivan holds a Master's of Public Administration from the Suffolk University Sawyer School of Management, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island. Before stepping into the interim town administrator position, he served as the town's financial analyst.
