A gusty, wet storm lashed Wareham on Sunday that felled one tree and broke at least two boats from their moorings.

Wind gusts reached up to 40 miles per hour at times and 2.36 inches of rain fell throughout the day, putting a damper Columbus Day weekend plans.

The storm cut loose one 33-foot boat from a mooring in Onset on Sunday. It was recovered with no damage on Monday. A second boat washed ashore on Wicket’s Island and was stranded at low tide as of Monday morning. It’s unknown at this time if there’s any damage.

Also on Sunday, a large tree fell and severely damaged a home located on Cranberry Highway. One person inside the home was taken to Tobey Hospital for evaluation.
