Superintendent's new committee to meet next month

Dec 19, 2013

On Jan. 9, Superintendent Kimberly Shaver-Hood will host the first-ever meeting of the Superintendent Advisory Committee.

“It’s a group of educators, community folks, teachers, nonprofit, a [Selectman] and school committee, and we’re going to get together and discuss different things about our school system with the community,” Shaver-Hood said.

At the School Committee meeting on Dec. 18, Shaver-Hood requested that two school committee members be appointed to the advisory committee for the January meeting.

Members Geoffrey Swett and Michael Flaherty volunteered to join the advisory committee.

“I appoint, by the powers vested in me, Mike Flaherty and Geoffrey Swett to the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee,” member Rhonda Veugen said. “Thank you very much for volunteering.”

The Jan. 9 meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the middle school. After that, Shaver-Hood anticipates the advisory committee will meet every six to eight weeks.
