Suspect found guilty in Fearing Street shooting
David Monteiro Jr., 33, of 153 Indian Neck Road, was found guilty on all three charges related to a January 23 shooting on Fearing Street.
Monteiro was charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and possession of chemical mace without a Firearms Identification Card in the incident. Monteiro will be on probation until July 31, 2014.
There were no injuries as a result of the shooting, however, one Wareham Police Officer received a serious injury to his lower leg and ankle when he slipped during the investigation, police said. He was transported to Tobey Hospital by EMS where he was treated and released.
Brian Townley, 24, of 14 Tomahawk Drive, was also arrested and charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and possession of chemical mace without a Firearms Identification Card in connection to the case. Townley will appear before a judge on February 23.
