Suspect nabbed after running a red light in East Wareham
Wareham Police arrested a Forestdale man on February 17 after he ran a red light and then led police on a chase through Onset, first by vehicle and then on foot.
Joseph Pennini, 28, traveled through the red light signal at the intersection of Main Avenue and Cranberry Highway, and, after a police officer signaled him to stop his vehicle, continued traveling toward Minot Avenue, according a Wareham Police statement.
Pennini, who was wearing a court-ordered monitoring device on his ankle at the time of his arrest, then abruptly stopped his vehicle on Minot Avenue and fled on foot, police said.
Officers Kevin Reilly and John Iacobucci located Pennini near Depot Street and arrested him after a brief struggle. Pennini was carrying the keys to the vehicle, police said.
Pennini was charged with failing to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license, which was due to a prior operating-under- the-influence conviction, police said. He was also cited for failing to stop at a red light and speeding.
