Wareham Police arrested a Wareham man and a Mashpee man on drug charges during separate recent motor vehicle stops.

Wareham Police Officer James White arrested 44-year-old Gilbert Roderick of Wareham on 11 drug charges on November 16. The charges include possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and possession of Oxycontin.

Roderick was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on Depot Street, when he was pulled over for driving an unregistered vehicle. According to police, Roderick “appeared to be very nervous and refused to remove his hands from his pants.”

White then used his taser on Roderick, and Roderick then threw a camera case with an unmarked prescription pill bottle in it out of the car, according to police. The pill bottle contained 176 pills, including Clonazepam, Clonidine, and Oxycontin.

Roderick was transported to Tobey Hospital for a medical evaluation after telling police officers that he’d swallowed a number of pills.

Roderick was also charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest.

On Monday, November 19, Wareham Police Officer Dean Decas pulled over 24-year-old Jonathan Bader of Mashpee for driving with a suspended license, and then discovered seven plastic bags of marijuana and $800 in cash during a search of Bader's vehicle.

Bader was charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
