After a six-year absence, the Wareham Village Association’s Swan Festival returns this weekend with a new partner, the Bourne-Wareham Art Association.

The groups are teaming up to offer a day of fun while showcasing original artwork by community members. The Swan Festival will be held on Merchants Way and Besse Park on Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be 22 vendors selling food and crafts on Merchants Way. In Besse Park, games and activities for children will be offered.

At the other end of Main Street, the Bourne-Wareham Art Association’s 53rd Annual Art Show will be held in the Wareham Historical Society Meeting House, 495 Main St., from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Usually held in Bourne, this year’s art show was moved to Wareham to take advantage of the resurgent Swan Festival, said art show coordinator Tim Foley.

“When we heard about the Swan Festival coming back, it seemed like a good opportunity to join up and offer people things to check out up and down Main Street,” said Foley. “We’re excited to be working together.”

Local artists will be present with their original oil paintings, watercolors, acrylic paintings, pastels, graphics, photography and fine art crafts. A portion of all sales benefits the association’s Scholastic Art Awards. Award-winning works will be presented ribbons in each category.
