Swifts Beach Real Estate re-opens with a community focus
A Swifts Beach landmark is back in a “real” big way following its grand re-opening Thursday night.
After purchasing the Swifts Beach Real Estate office in February, LaForce Realty unveiled the renovated building at the well-attended celebration. First built in 1950, the office has served as a social and commercial hub for the beachside neighborhood.
Bill Bachant and Cindy Parola, of LaForce Realty, said they hope to bring back that sense of community.
“We want this to be a place that people go to not just for real estate, but also to meet neighbors, relax and have fun,” said Parola. “This place is adorable, and it has a great history.”
Located at 169 Swifts Beach Road, the real estate office was owned and operated by Herbert Voss for many years. In addition to selling and renting real estate from the office, Voss operated an arcade, providing a place for people to socialize.
“Swifts Beach Real Estate was the place to be back in the day,” said Bachant.
Bachant said LaForce will operate the office under the same name.
“We wanted to keep the Swifts Beach name for nostalgic reasons,” he said. “We want to continue the tradition.”
LaForce purchased the building in February. Before that, the business operated on a part-time basis inside a space that desperately needed a facelift.
“When it rained, no one could work because there were so many leaks in the ceiling,” said Bachant.
With the renovation complete, seven real estate agents will work out of the office, led by manager Gina Theodore. She said the company will offer weekly, seasonal and yearly rentals in addition to selling real estate.
She said she was impressed with the turnout for the celebration.
“It’s exciting to see so many people come out tonight, not just from Wareham but from out of town, too,” she said.
