The Wareham Historical Society is hosting a lecture by author Beth Luey on Monday, September 16, at 7 p.m. in the Methodist Meeting House, 495 Main St.

Luey, the author of “At Home: Historic Houses of Eastern Massachusetts,” will regale attendees with the tale of the Fairbanks House in Dedham.

The house, which is the oldest in the state, has been owned by the Fairbanks family since 1637, and is connected to eccentric ladies and a murder trial. The house has never had running water, electricity, or heat, and it has been restored and opened to the public.

Admission is free for members of the Historical Society and costs $2 for non-members. For more information about the society and the event, go to warehamhistoricalsociety.com.
