Theresa Josephine (Holmes) Nichols, 68

Theresa Josephine (Holmes) Nichols, 68, of West Wareham died March 15, 2020, in Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. She was the wife of Albert L. Nichols and the late David W. Lawson. 

Born in Boston and raised in Stoughton, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Cuddy) Holmes. She raised her family in Brockton and later moved to the Cape Cod area before retiring to Wareham in the last few years. She graduated from Stoughton High School.

Mrs. Nichols worked as a telephone operator for Bell Atlantic in Brockton and New England Telephone Company. She then worked as a bank teller for many years before retiring and spending her free time volunteering for local schools and food banks.

She enjoyed reading and bowling. She was a Red Sox fan and a Patriots fan. In the 1970s and ‘80s she enjoyed playing softball. 

Survivors include her husband, Albert L. Nichols, Jr. of West Wareham; her children, Donna Rose and her husband Sean of Wareham, David Lawson and his wife Maureen of Kansas City, MO, Robert Lawson, Jacob Gurney and Barbara Lawson all of Wareham; her grandchildren, Michael Lawson and his wife Hannah, Athena Lawson, David Lawson, Jr., Christopher, Katie and Patricia Mullen-Hayes; 2 great grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Mia.; her siblings, Patricia Holmes of Middleboro, Adrienne Whiting of Middleboro, Len Holmes, Bob Leach of Taunton, Elmer Holmes of Middleboro; many nephews, nieces and adopted family. She was the mother of the late Kirsten Lawson.

Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.  (Appropriate COVID-19 protocol will be observed including the use of face masks, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity).  Funeral Mass will be Wed., July 29, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 AM.  Interment will follow in Center Cemetery, Wareham.
