Friday, August 6
Pick up food from the Y.
The Gleason Family YMCA will host its free Community Market from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or until food runs out, which can happen quickly. Each household will receive pre–packaged bags of groceries. All are welcome to participate in this free program. Participants will be asked for their zip code and the number of people in their household. No photo ID is required. Masks are requested for this drive-thru event.
Go to a concert at the beach.
Grace Morrison will be performing at the Parkwood Beach Clubhouse at 6 p.m. See the story on Page 17.
Saturday, August 7
Check out a fair.
The Wesley United Methodist Church at 462 Main St. will be hosting its Annual Summer Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. The fair will feature the thrift shop, crafts, baked goods, outside vendors, and raffles. The church will also be serving lunch. The menu includes homemade clam chowder, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken salad sandwiches, and strawberry shortcake.
Eat ice cream.
The Swifts Beach Improvement Association will host a build-your-own ice cream sundae event at 7 p.m. at Voss Hall, 38 Pleasant St.
Sunday, August 8
Sing the blues.
The Onset Blues Festival will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. at the Onset VFW pavilion, 4 Gibbs Ball Park Rd. Walk-ups are welcome for $5. Attendees can bring their own chair, and food and a cash bar will be available. No coolers. The Born Yesterday Blues Band will perform from 12 to 1 p.m., G & Friends will play from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., Bag Full of Blues will take the stage from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and the Gil David Correia Band will round out the afternoon from 3:45 to 5 p.m.
