Two alarm Onset fire calls for 50 firefighters to battle blaze
Over 50 firefighters and several fire departments responded to a two alarm structure fire at 38 Old Onset Road Friday, Aug. 8.
The Onset Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of the two-story home after a 911 call was made at 5:19 p.m. Prior to the Onset Fire Department’s arrival, Wareham Police reported fire coming from the rear of the two story ranch style house.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire from the back of the house and while all units were battling the blaze, Onset Assistant Fire Chief Howard Andersen issued a second alarm which brought tens of firefighters to the scene from Wareham, Bourne, Plymouth, Marion and Carver.
Two firefighters were evaluated by Wareham Emergency Medical Services staff who determined the firefighters did not need to go to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The fire remains under investigation by the Onset Fire Department and Wareham Police assisted by the State Fire Marshall.
