Yard sale, breakfast sandwiches

Trinity Christian Church will have a yard sale and community breakfast from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The church is located at 462 Main Street. The yard sale will be held across the street at the parsonage yard. 

The community breakfast will serve English muffin breakfast sandwiches with egg, cheese and sausage or bacon, hash browns, fruit, coffee and assorted juice. 

The thrift shop will be open during the yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Yard sale with DECA

Wareham High School DECA invites the community to join its yard sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 7 Viking Drive, the front lot of the high school. 

Vendors will be able to rent out spots and sell goods and/or services. A variety of food and amenities will be available.

SBIA holds volunteer day

The Swifts Beach Improvement Association will hold a clubhouse / playground volunteer day at 10 a.m. It will take place at the association’s clubhouse, 38 Pleasant Street. 

Grow your garden

Damien’s Place Food Pantry will hold a kick-off event for its community garden program starting at 1 p.m., providing sign-ups for any plots that are left, introducing gardeners to their garden ambassadors and giving out starter items such as garden tools and plants.

Reading and rubber duckies

Join the Friends of the Wareham Free Library at Tihonet Village, 150 Tihonet Road with A.D. Makepeace for an annual rubber duck race. 

Registration will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The duck race will take place at 1 p.m.

Ducks cost $5 each, with special prices for a whole flock: “six quack” at $25 for six, “baker’s dozen” at $50 for 13, and “golden flock” at $100 for 25. 

Walk for the homeless

Those who have been concerned about the homeless facing winter storms or below zero temperatures can help with “Wareham Walks for the Homeless,” a 5-mile walk in support of Turning Point and its work to assist the homeless and near homeless of the area.

The walk is sponsored by the Wareham Area Clergy Association.

The walk will begin at 1 p.m. It is five miles and will start and end at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 74 High Street.

‘Five darn good poets’

Just in time for National Poetry Month, five Massachusetts poets will take the stage for a poetry round robin at Stone Church Cafe presented by First Congregational Church of Wareham.

It will take place at 11 Gibbs Avenue. The cafe begins with a light meal at 6:30 p.m. followed by a performance at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. 

The event will include five “darn good poets” from Massachusetts: Barbara Siegel Carlson, Stephen Haven, Mary Kane, Carla Panciera and Scott Withiam. Withiam is a former Wareham resident who now lives in Marblehead.

Battling the buzz 

Join representatives from the Plymouth County Mosquito Control Program for a talk about how to control pesky insects and enjoy summer activities. The program will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Wareham Free Library, 59 Marion Road.
