Tigers cheerleaders headed to U.S. Finals
After a showstopping performance in the CHEERSPORT Boston Classic on Saturday, March 25, the Wareham Tigers Pride and Spirit cheerleading teams have made it into the U.S. Finals.
The Pride team, for experienced cheerleaders up to age 18, received a “Golden Ticket,” meaning that Pride team members will not have to pay athlete fees to compete in the U.S. Finals.
The Spirit team, for cheerleaders ages 12 and under, placed first in its division.
The Empower team, consisting of girls ages 5 and up, performed in the CHEERSPORT Boston Classic for the first time. The team “hit zero,” meaning that the cheerleaders did not have a single point docked from their score due to mistakes.
“All of these [Empower team] athletes had no prior competition cheer experience,” Wareham Tigers Cheer Athletics said in a March 25 Facebook post. “Our coaches did an amazing job getting them through the season, teaching, guiding, encouraging and ‘empowering’ these little athletes. This was their last performance of the season and they put all of what they learned on the mat today!”
The U.S. Finals will be held in Worcester on Saturday, April 22.
