Tihonet Pond Fishing Derby
The Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club is hosting its annual Tihonet Pond Fishing Derby on Sunday, June 5.
Check-in begins at 4 a.m. Fishing begins at 6 a.m., and awards are at 2 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories for adults and juniors. Raffle tickets are also available for great prizes. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club Youth Group. The derby falls on the Massachusetts Free Fishing Weekend, therefore, fishing licenses are not required this year.
“It’s a terrific day, whether you’re a serious fisherman or you just want to enjoy some fun with your kids. It’s amazing to see the associates there before the sun getting ready for the big day,” said Roland Murphy, President of the Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club.
The fee is $9 for adults and $1 for children age 10 and younger. The fee includes breakfast, and lunch will be available for purchase. The Tihonet Village Market will be open during the day for baked goods, ice cream, sandwiches and other delicious goodies!
