TODAY: Veterans Day parade, ceremony
Wareham will observe Veterans Day today, Monday, November 12, with a parade down Main Street to Town Hall, a ceremony, and a luncheon for veterans and their families.
The parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. Wareham resident Vernon Ingraham, a World War II veteran, will serve as grand marshal of the parade. He'll be escorted in a vintage World War II Jeep.
Any veterans wishing to march in the parade may meet with parade coordinators in the area of Besse Park at 10 a.m. on Monday.
The parade will make its way from Main Street to Town Hall on Marion Road for a ceremony. Veteran John Wagner will serve as master of ceremonies.
Following the ceremony, attendees will be encouraged to stop by the Town Hall lobby to take a look at the Veterans Wall, a memorial completed earlier this year.
At approximately 12 p.m., the luncheon will begin in the Multi-Service Center. Miss Massachusetts Outstanding Teen, Amy deSilva, will be singing during the lunch. Sing-along Singers, Wareham residents Tom and Sheila Monaghan, will also perform.
