Town Administrator holds CEDA oversight power, effective immediately
Town Administrator Derek Sullivan now has Community Economic Development Authority (CEDA) oversight powers following a unanimous vote by the Board of Selectmen Tuesday night.
Approximately 10 years ago, the state legislature authorized Selectmen to oversee CEDA but the board can transfer its oversight. This includes personnel, organizational and day-to-day operations.
"When you look at it, we are running out of time as to whether we are going to fix or do other things with this," said Sullivan.
This decision stems from the problem of an understaffed CEDA department and their uncertain future, explained Sullivan. He hopes to sit with the chair and vice chair of CEDA, and the chair of the Board of Selectmen to discuss day-to-day operations.
During a joint meeting with CEDA, the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Conservation Committee, and the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) at the end of April, Sullivan said the Board of Selectmen would fill the open positions on CEDA. It is unclear whether or not Sullivan still plans to fill those positions.
