Town leaders need to recognize litter problem
To the Editor:
I am writing in support of Dave Willis' campaign against litter. Dave gave a very accurate presentation of the litter situation on our beaches and in town at the October 18 Board of Selectmen meeting. He also presented some solutions.
As a resident of Onset, I know many of us work hard to keep the litter off our streets and beaches, but we do need the town's help. Dave suggested a committee be put together. I hope our town leaders will realize the importance of this issue.
I believe if we have zero tolerance for litter, people coming into town will be less likely to litter because they will see we do not tolerate it.
The problem is not just a seasonal one. All year long the kids in Onset play at the basketball court on Highland Avenue. There needs to be a trash bucket there. A trash bucket is also needed outside Onset Village Market.
Every youth leader, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts should see Dave's presentation.
Thank you Dave for taking the time to enlighten our town leaders. I hope they will see the importance of this problem.
