Traffic information for Cranberry Harvest Celebration, Chief Andersen's funeral
The A.D. Makepeace Company, which is hosting the 10th annual Cranberry Harvest Celebration at its Tihonet Road property this weekend, has planned alternate parking from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, during Onset Fire Chief Howard Andersen's funeral.
Andersen passed away last weekend, less than a month after his retirement celebration. He had battled cancer in recent years. For more information, click here.
Traffic in the area of the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home on Cranberry Highway and, subsequently, around Centre Cemetery on Tihonet Road, is expected to be heavy from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Cranberry Harvest Celebration visitors will be directed to park at 100 Rosebrook Way during those hours and will be shuttled to the main gate by bus.
If you'd rather park in the main parking area on Tihonet Road, it can be accessed via Route 58 (exit 2 off I-495 in Carver). From the Wareham area, take a right at the end of the ramp onto Route 58 North for 2.6 miles; stay straight on Tremont Street where Route 58 bears to the left; turn right onto Cranberry Road after 0.8 miles, then turn right onto Federal Road, which becomes Tihonet Road in Wareham.
The route will be marked and takes approximately 15 minutes from the highway. Tihonet Road will be open for regular access until about 11 a.m. and after 1 p.m. on Saturday, and all day Sunday.
