Travel writer will share adventures at the library

The life story of award-winning travel journalist and author Peter Mandel sounds more like a rejected plotline for an Indiana Jones movie than a series of true-life events.
In his career with the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, National Geographic Kids and the Boston Globe, Mandel has survived a coup in Ecuador, visited penguins in Antarctica, fished for piranhas in Brazil and camped in the African bush country.
He will tell of all those experiences and more at the Wareham Free Library on Wednesday, July 12 at 7 p.m.
Along with sharing stories and photos from his travels to India, Egypt, Norway, Patagonia, Japan and many other exotic locales, he will explain the craft of writing great travel stories.
