Trick-or-treat! Wareham events will give you something good to eat

Looking for some spooky fun this Halloween? Several local groups have planned events for kids – and all are free.

Friday, Oct. 29

Take a costumed stroll down Main Street.

The Wareham Village Association’s Trick or Treat Main Street event will be held on Friday, Oct. 29 from 3 to 5 p.m.

“Bring your little ghosts and goblins to Main Street [...] businesses for a safe and fun alternative to neighborhood trick-or-treating,” reads the Wareham Village Association’s event website. “We recommend that you make Eastern Bank your first stop then make a full loop of participating businesses.”

Saturday, Oct. 30

Candy and a costume contest in Onset.

On Saturday, Oct. 30, Community Youth Empowerment will be hosting a trunk or treat event from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event — which will be held at 4 Gibbs Ball Park Rd. in Wareham — will feature a costume contest from 2:30-3:30 p.m. A food truck will also be on site. 

Trunk-or-treat at the Y.

The Gleason Family YMCA will be hosting a trunk or treat from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30.

The Y is inviting kids to come in costume for an afternoon of trick or treating in the YMCA parking lot, located at 3 Charge Pond Rd.

Participation will be free, although “a non-perishable food donation would be BOO-tiful,” according to a Facebook post from Y.

Sunday, Oct. 31

Candy, open house at Onset Fire Station.

Stop by the Onset Fire Department’s new station at 8 Sand Pond Rd. between 2 p.m. and nightfall for some candy and a tour of the new building.

Fall Fest at The Bridge.

The Bridge Church, located at 15 Highland Ave. in Onset, will be hosting a Fall Fest from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will include trunk-or-treating, a cookout, inflatables, a bouncy house, popcorn, cotton candy, costumes, and “all the chocolate you can eat,” according to the event’s Facebook page.

Also happening at the Bridge at 5 p.m. is the kick-off for the Bridges Acrozz Wareham Scavenger Hunt. The town-wide hunt, put together by Wareham Helping Wareham, The Bridge Church, and Kidz City, will conclude with prizes at the Trunk or Treat event.
