Two men from Wareham were arrested Sunday, Sept. 10 by Bourne State Troopers Anthony Grasso and Christopher Taylor who discovered what is suspected to be over 60 grams of cocaine during a traffic stop, according to state police.

Just before midnight on Depot Street, the troopers stopped a red Ford Fusion driven by Emanuel Torres, 19, and occupied by Jaramy Santigago Pires, 19, and one other person.

Though the stop was initially for a missing inspection sticker, the officers detected a strong odor of Marijuana and observed signs of impairment, according to state police.

When the officers conducted a field sobriety test on Torres, a pat down of his person led to the discovery of several bags containing a substance suspected to be crack cocaine. 

Torres was placed under arrest and the vehicle was searched. 

The troopers found a bag containing a large amount of cash, a digital scale and empty packaging material, according to state police. Additional bags of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine were discovered.

Upon searching the other two occupants of the vehicle, Pires was discovered to have suspected cocaine on his person and was placed under arrest.

Both men were transported to the Bourne Barracks for booking where they were scheduled for arraignment on the multiple charges.

Torres faces charges of possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute, two counts; Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs; Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law; No Inspection Sticker; and Failure to Wear Seatbelt.

Pires faces charges of Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law; Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute, two counts; and Trafficking in Cocaine.
