Two arrested on breaking and entering and burglary charges
Wareham Police arrested a 29-year-old Wareham man and his 24-year-old girlfriend on Dec. 5, after the pair allegedly broke into neighbors' homes.
James Cyr, of 51 Barlow Avenue, was charged with five counts of burglary, two counts of attempting to commit a crime (burglary), and one count of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, after police responded to a report of a man acting suspiciously on Nelson Street, in the Rose Point area of Wareham, at approximately 2 a.m. on Dec. 5, according to police.
When they arrived at the scene, officers did not find the man, but instead saw a woman later identified as Brittany Crowe, Cyr's girlfriend, walking down the street. Officers then discovered that the car Crowe had been driving was parked in the driveway of a home on Rose Point Avenue, which had been broken into, according to police.
The investigation let officers to Cyr, who matched the description of the suspicious person, police said.
Police had responded to three complaints of breaking and entering -- two in homes, one in a car -- earlier in the day, and officers' investigation at the scene led to additional charges of unarmed burglary, according to police.
Police said there was a minimal amount of property taken from the homes.
Crowe is charged with three counts of burglary and one count of attempting to commit a crime (burglary).
