A Rhode Island man was seriously injured Thursday evening after the vehicle he was driving crashed and rolled over on Route 495 northbound.

Robert Skinkle, 51, of Warwick, R.I. was driving a 2001 Chrysler sedan in the left lane between exits one and two at about 5:50 p.m, said Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio. Skinkle moved into the right lane to pass a vehicle, but his vehicle fishtailed and swerved out of control upon moving back into the left lane. Skinkle crashed into the guardrail and rolled over.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and there were no other occupants in the vehicle, Procopio said. Skinkle was transported to Tobey Hospital and later transferred to Boston Medical Center. He is being cited for making an unsafe lane change.
