Dec 24, 2013

On Dec. 23, a woman was charged with armed robbery after attempting to rob D’Angelo’s sandwich shop on Cranberry Highway.

Around 2:30 p.m. that day, an employee at the restaurant reported an unknown woman wearing a hooded jacket, large frame glasses, with pink streaked hair, sitting in the restaurant for about an hour before she approached the counter and demanded money from the cash register.

The woman felt her waist area and stated, “I have a gun.”

The employee called for a manager, and the woman then left without receiving money or harming the employee.

While investigation of the incident was taking place at D’Angelo’s, officer Stephen Joy noticed a woman who matched the given description of the suspect in the area of the Silver Lake Motel, which is located slightly east of D’Angelo’s. As the officer approached the woman.

She quickly left the area, where a black pellet gun resembling a firearm was on the ground. She was then located and placed under arrest as she attempted to hide at the side of the building.

The woman, who identified herself to police as 24-year-old Kristi Ray Warren of Onset, was actually 26-year-old Shawna Warren, according to interim Police Chief Kevin Walsh.

Warren was arraigned at Wareham 4th District Court on Tuesday, Dec. 24.
