A very public proposal

Oct 6, 2013

As Brittani Patton stood in front of the Wareham Fire Department during the open house Sunday, October 6, waiting for her boyfriend to march down the road she got the surprise of her life.

The emergency vehicles rolled on by, and one engine had a big banner that read: "Brittani, will you marry me?"

Firefighter Chris McIntosh  got down on one knee and proposed in front of the crowd and she ecstatically accepted with tears in her eyes.

So, did she have any clue this was happening so soon?

"No, [I wasn't expecting it for] a couple more years," she said.  "I was a sophomore and he was a junior," in high school when they got together she added.

The couple are now both 24-years-old.

McIntosh said he'd been planning the surprise public proposal for about a month-and-a-half, saying he had been hoping to "Keep it exciting, and make it dramatic."

Patton certainly had no complaints: "I don't think I'd want it any other way."
