VIDEO ADDED: Onset sparkles during Illumination Night
The Onset Bay Association held its annual Illumination Night on Saturday, August 25, which featured the Cambridge-based Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band, and, of course, the lighting of Onset Bay.
Hundreds were drawn to Onset Beach to see the lights, but as night fell, were treated to the band, which surprised visitors with a march down Onset Avenue to the gazebo on the Bluffs.
Onset Bay Association President Eleanor Martin thanked volunteer Amy Hughes, who worked with the Onset Fire Department and Harbormaster Department — and a troop of her fellow volunteers — to coordinate the lighting of the beaches.
Martin also commended the Junior Onset Bay Association (JOBA), the members of which provided face-painting and crafts to occupy children during the daylight hours.
Martin also thanked the Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band.
"They were great!" she noted.
