Vikings Basketball advances in first tournament rounds
The winter sports season is heating up in Wareham as both the boys and girls basketball teams have punched their tickets to the next round of tournament play.
The Wareham High School girls basketball team advanced after a strong performance in their opening-round matchup Saturday, Feb.28. Vikings controlled the tempo from the opening tip and secured a decisive win on their home court winning 59-29 against Brooke Charter High School. The victory sends the girls into the round of 32 against Hampshire Regional Middle High School on Monday, March 2 at 6 p.m.
The game will be held in Westhampton.
The Wareham High School boys basketball team also advanced with an impressive showing in their first-round game. Fueled by a fast-paced offense and strong rebounding effort, the Vikings secured a win against Tech Boston Academy, going 82-61. The boys now move on to the next round of 16 and will face off against South Hadley High School Wednesday, March 4 at 6 p.m.
The location of the game is to be announced.
With back-to-back postseason games on the schedule, excitement is building across Wareham.
