Vikings dominate Bourne in 40-0 win

Wareham’s offense has been dominant early this season as the Vikings scored 40 points in back-to-back home games. The first game held on Sept. 8 was a 40-41 loss against Old Rochester, but the team's first victory came Friday against Bourne as the team beat the Canalmen 40-0.

Head Coach Bob Lomp credited a pair of Viking running backs, senior Isaac Nascimento and junior Seth Andrade, for their offensive prowess.

“We’ll be tough to defend this year because of them,” said Lomp. “They’re both tough, physical runners who complement each other well.”

On Friday, Andrade scored three touchdowns. Two catches included a 66-yard one and another 45-yard catch. The third touchdown was made following a 65-yard run. His performance follows last week’s home opener when Andrade also notched three touchdowns.

The Vikings defense performed well against Bourne’s offensive line whose size had Lomp concerned ahead of the game.

“I was nervous all week because of their size,” said Lomp. “They’re big, but we held up well with our physical play.”

Up next, the Vikings play Fairhaven at Fairhaven High School on Sept. 22. Kick off is at 7 p.m.
