Volunteers, donations needed for Chemo Caps 4 Kids fundraiser

Sep 14, 2011

The Chemo Caps 4 Kids fundraiser, a knitting and crocheting event to benefit children battling cancer, is scheduled for Sunday, September 25 at 9 a.m.

For $10, attendees will learn to knit a chemotherapy cap which will then be donated to children with cancer to keep them comfortable and warm.

Organizer Sharon Morais said she hopes to raise $1,000 and create 1,000 caps. She was inspired to help after learning about Wareham resident Hailey Jean Pease, who recently lost her battle with leukemia. The proceeds will be donated to the Kids Kickin’ Cancer foundation in Hailey’s name.

Volunteers are needed to help beginners with knitting/crocheting techniques, collect donations, hand out flyers, and sell 50/50 raffle tickets. Additionally, donations of yarn and size “H” crochet hooks are needed.

The Chemo Caps 4 Kids fundraiser will take place at the Onset Bay Wellness Center (previously Artisana) located at 234 Onset Ave. in Onset.
