Walk for Hunger scheduled for Sunday, May 5
The Greater Wareham Walk for Hunger is scheduled for Sunday, May 5, at 1 p.m.
Hosted by area churches, the event raises money for Project Bread, a nonprofit dedicated to alleviating, preventing, and ultimately ending hunger in Massachusetts.
The five-mile course is a shorter alternative to the longer course in Boston, which also raises funds for Project Bread. The course starts at the Church of the Good Shepherd on High Street, proceeds to Sandwich Road and the Church of the Nazarene, before turning onto Depot Street and Minot Avenue, and ending back at the Church of the Good Shepherd.
Last year's Wareham event raised approximately $10,000. Organizers hope that this year's event will meet or exceed that amount through pledges made to walkers.
Registration is from noon to 12:45 p.m. on the day of the event. For more information, contact the Church of the Good Shepherd at 508-295-2840.
